Why are annual pledges important?
Annual pledges represent more than 80% of St. John’s operating revenue. By accepting pledges prior to the budgeting process the vestry is able to anticipate a large portion of our upcoming revenue and budget accordingly for the coming year. The pledging process allows the vestry to better manage the affairs of our church.
What is the annual operating budget?
The 2010 operating budget is approximately $260,000.
Who can pledge?
All pledges are welcome.
Is my pledge confidential?
Yes. Access to your pledge information is limited to the Stewardship Liaison and the church bookkeeper.
When should I return my annual pledge card?
St. John’s will accept pledges at anytime throughout the year; however, to be most effective and to support participation in the 2010 every member canvass, there will be a suggested return date of no later than Sunday, December 6th 2009.
How can I pay my annual pledge?
St. John’s offers several payment methods to meet the needs of each parish family:
- Cash, Check, One-Time Payment
- Envelopes
- Stock Gift
- Direct Draft
Do I have to pay when I pledge?
No. Pledge payments can be made throughout the calendar year using any combination of the options listed above.
Why should I pledge when I regularly put money in the offering plate?
All monetary gifts are used to support the church and our many important ministries. Dollars committed in pledges assist in setting the church budget while dollars that are given as plate offerings, even on a recurring basis, cannot be accounted for until they are received. If you can anticipate an amount that you will freely and joyfully be able to allocate to St. John’s, we strongly encourage you to fill out a pledge card in that amount so that your gift can effectively steer the future planning of the church.
Can I change my pledge?
We understand that circumstances occur that warrant changing a pledge amount. You can do so by contacting Abby Presson, Stewardship Liaison, at 554-1817 or presson@nc.rr.com and she can work with you to correct your pledge amount.
